Fancy tank tops and shirts can get a little pricey, and you’ll probably find yourself asking “Why am I paying $12 for a tank top with a knot at the bottom?” or “Isn’t there a cheaper option that will still look decent?” Whether you’re looking for something casual or something a little more flirtatious, there are more affordable options that will look just as cute.
Here are three ways to spice up your basic tank top.
I got all of these from Walmart for about $3 each.
This is one of the simplest styles to do. Buy a tank top a size up (this will make it easier). Take the fabric on the bottom of the tank. Pull it together and twist it into a knot. It’s a simple as that.
This also works with a t-shirt.
This is one of the most challenging to do, but it should only take about five minutes.
Draw a line from the sides into a scoop on the back.
Take a pair of scissors and follow this line. Once this is done, you’ll have to cut off the top part of the fabric. Do this by cutting the neckline of the shirt (but not the top part that’ll hang around your neck. Once this is done, put on the shirt. If it hangs too low, cut the back of the neck and tie it in a knot.
Your final product should look like this:
The first thing you’ll be doing is drawing two lines at an angle going inward. After this, take some scissors and cut it and then cut a straight line in the middle of the fabric. Aside from the fabric you just cut, trim the fabric around the back so it evenly matches the top of the angles fabric.
After this, take the two pieces and tie it into a bow.
